Welcome to Cakes With Flowers!
My passion for baking began 30 years ago when baking cakes for family and friends' birthdays and events. Growing up in Somerset instilled in me a great appreciation for flora and fauna, and has provided me with a wealth of inspiration that is reflected in my designs.
During my education and in to my twenties I enjoyed a career working with horses, which I carried on for six years before having my two children.
When my children grew up and flew the nest I decided to pursue my dream of a career in cooking. I studied a professional cooking qualification and was lucky enough to work under an award winning chef for three years. Here, I had my first experience catering for weddings. I felt a sense of privilige to be able to contribute to the couples special day.
It was during this time that I attended the Cake International Show and from that point I was hooked on sugar-craft. I found and joined a local sugar-craft group which enhanced my love for creating sugar flowers.
Today I have my own cake studio where I bake my cakes using top quality, local ingredients. Where I can, I like to use my own homemade jams and curds which I produce on a seasonal basis, and I enjoy experimenting with new designs.
I feel blessed to be able to do something that I love as a career. I hope that you enjoy my work, and I look forward to work with you.
